Bombers offset links prevent the snaffle from creating a large pressure point on the tongue like conventional snaffles.
Pictured left, is a Bombers snaffle which does not create a large pressure point on the tongue due to the off-set center link that creates a smoother surface area on the tongue
Pictured left is a traditional snaffle which creates a large pressure point on the tongue as the center link extends downwards onto the tongue.
All bits are curved to follow the shape of the horse’s mouth. This curve also spreads pressure over a greater surface area, softening pressure applied.
Traditionally bits are 16mm plus thick, no matter the width.
Bombers offers a wider range of thickness to allow the bit to sit correctly in a wider variety of horses mouths’.
The width and thickness correspond, the smaller the width (actual length) of the bit, the thinner the mouth piece. While the traditional advice that a thicker bit is softer, is technically true due to a larger surface area, we must take into account the amount of space available in the horse’s mouth. The gap between the top and bottom bars is only 16mm is most horses. A bit that is too thick will apply constant pressure to the top and bottom bar.
Bomber Bits are additionally handmade in 5 millimeter increments to allow for a much wider sizing range as every horse is unique and having the in between sizes are very helpful to make sure there is a bit size to fit every bit.
