The Watson Ring Pelham has a hollow mouthpiece, a bar that attaches to the rings on each side of the cheekpiece, goes through the mouthpiece.
The Pelham shank has two rings instead of the normal shank with one ring at the end.

Functionality
The Watson Ring Pelham is a schooling bit, when a direct opening rein is used, the bar will slide through the inside of the Mullen mouthpiece, and bump on the opposite side, this helps to aid turning as the horse will turn away from the noise and vibration.
The shank allow for more options for rein placement, therefore allowing more adjustment of the pressure.
