The Hackland Gag is a medium ring rope gag, with the addition of tube, like that of the Loose Ring Tube. This tube prevents any pinching of the lips.
It also acts as a stop, so that the poll pressure comes in effect sooner, and the bit in not raised in the mouth quite as much as a standard gag.
