The Chifney is used for leading spirited horses and ponies. It is often used with stallions. The Chifney attaches to a halter by the two side rings and a lead rope attaches to the single bottom ring.
The traditional Chifney is quite a harsh bit, designed to put pressure on the tongue if the horse rears or gets ahead of the handler.
Bombers has brought innovation to the Chifney, working with handlers, different mouthpieces have been identified to allow control through comfort and communication.
The Bomber Blue Swivel allows the horse to place the port where it is most comfortable for the individual, reducing tongue pressure as much as possible.
The Moulded Mullen is a soft spread of pressure that allows room for the tongue, ideal for sensitive youngster.
Both are softer options, particularly for young horses.
