Watch LessonBaby Drop Cheek

The Drop Cheek has an Eggbutt like ring at the mouthpiece for the rein, with an upper cheek that has a ring at its end, to which the cheek piece of the bridle is attached.
The Baby Drop is shorter and smaller in size than the standard Drop Cheek.
The mouthpiece does not slide on its ring resulting in light poll pressure. The cheek pieces lie flat against the horse’s face, and the mouthpiece is quite fixed in the mouth and concentrates pressure on the bars.
Functionality
Top Ring: Bridle attaches here, when there is tension on the reins this part of the mouthpiece is lifted slightly, this relieves poll pressure.
Eggbutt like ring: This has a similar pressure release and application to an eggbutt.
Common Misconception: It was previously believed that the Drop Cheek cheekpiece would create poll pressure, it is in fact, the opposite. The top ring of the Drop Cheek rotates up slightly, relieving poll pressure. The mouthpiece is slightly suspended in the mouth, softening pressure in the mouth. It does not create any leverage.
