Watch LessonWaterford Barrel Cable
The Waterford Barrel Cable has many smooth flexible barrels which spread the pressure slightly more than the bobble / ball version, making it a softer.
The spring-back action of the cable reduces pressure in all areas. The greater flexibility discourages a horse from leaning on it, it also promotes mouthing and salivation.
The Waterford Barrel Cable is a flexible mouthpiece and curves around the tongue to maximize the effect.
Functionality
The Waterford Barrel Cable allows the linking joint to be removed, removing multiple pressure points on the tongue. Pressure is spread across the bars and tongue, minimizing pressure points as overall pressure is spread over a large surface area, resulting in softer pressures across the whole mouth. The Barrel’s spread pressure more evenly than the bobbles and do not create singular pressure points on the tongue. The cable also allows for a “spring-back” action which reduces the squeeze on bars as folding backwards is hindered.
The Sweet Iron material was chosen as a metal option as it oxidizes. Oxidization encourages salivation and acceptance of the mouthpiece. The cable will soften over time and the mouthpiece will take the shape of the horses mouth.
