Snaffle Square Bar

Our Snaffle is a popular bit due to the curved mouthpiece which distributes pressure more evenly over tongue and bars and reduces the nutcracker action. The offset centre link avoids the usual pressure point on the tongue. The nutcracker action results in the horse lifting its head, therefore offers a solution for the horse that runs with its head down. The Square Bar applies a greater pressure on the horses bars when the reins are taken up.

Bombers subtle innovations make this bit far more acceptable than the traditional counterparts.

Functionality

The Snaffle Square Bar creates a pressure point on the tongue due to the link concentrating pressure on a small surface area, this pressure point is less sharp than a general snaffle as we have designed our snaffle with an offset link, creating a less obvious pressure point. Pressure descends onto the bars and due to the mouthpiece being a single break, it will create a squeeze on the bars – this squeeze on the bars is more than the squeeze created by a double jointed mouthpiece. The Square Bar specialization increases pressure on the bars as when the reins are taken up the bar edges rotate on the bars.  The Snaffle Square Bar mouthpiece is available in Sweet Iron and Titanium. The Sweet Iron material was chosen as a metal option as it oxidizes. Oxidization encourages salivation and acceptance of the mouthpiece. The Titanium material was designed as an alternative metal option to sweet iron, this metal was specifically chosen due to its hypoallergenic nature. The single break, Snaffle, is a broken mouthpiece and will take the shape of the horses mouth.
