The Mullen distributes pressure evenly over all the structures of the mouth, while this avoids pressure points, it does make the Mullen a fairly strong bit. The Pivot 45 is angled up 45 degrees and it is curved, this allows some space for the tongue and for the mouthpiece to make contact with a greater surface area.

Functionality
The Pivot 45 applies pressure across the tongue and bars. This mouthpiece is angled at 45 degrees to allow space for the tongue and to allow the mouthpiece to spread pressure over a larger surface area. The Pivot 45 has been shaped to fit the curve of the horses mouth, this curve also allows pressure to be spread over a large surface area. The center is closely linked with an internal pivot that does not interfere with the horses tongue or palate. Pressure descends onto the bars and due to the mouthpiece being a semi-broken mouthpiece, this Pivot link will hinder creating a squeeze on the bars – it also hinders the mouthpiece to fold backwards therefore creating little, to no squeeze on the bars. The Pivot allows for independent lateral aids. The Pivot 45 is available in Sweet Iron. The Sweet Iron material was chosen as a metal option as it oxidizes. Oxidization encourages salivation and acceptance of the mouthpiece. The semi-broken, Pivot, has limited movement.
