Mullen Round Twist
The Mullen is a strong bit which creates direct pressure on the tongue. Used for a strong older horse and will also bring the head down.
The Round Twist creates more pressure points on the bars making it stronger than the Smooth Mullen.
The Mullen applies pressure across the tongue and bars. Pressure applied to the tongue is direct and constant. The Mullen has been shaped to fit the curve of the horses mouth, this curve also allows pressure to be spread over a large surface area. Due to the mouthpiece being a solid, there will be no squeeze on the bars. The twists in the mouthpiece will create pressure points on the tongue that descend onto the bars. The round twist is slightly softer than the square twist as the twists are rounded. The Mullen is available in Sweet Iron. The Sweet Iron material was chosen as a metal option as it oxidizes. Oxidization encourages salivation and acceptance of the mouthpiece. The Mullen is not flexible.
