The Elliptical Lock Up removes the nut cracker action or pinch of the conventional three piece, meaning less pressure on the bars. The Elliptical Lock Up is therefore a softer option, than a conventional Elliptical, although stronger than a control plate.
The Square Twist will create more pressure points on the mouthpiece which will make it stronger than the Round Twist and Smooth.

Functionality
The Elliptical Lock Up Square Twist creates a pressure point on the tongue due to the center component concentrating pressure on a small surface area. Pressure descends onto the bars and due to the mouthpiece being a semi-broken mouthpiece, it will hinder creating a squeeze on the bars – the extra piece of metal that has been added prevents the mouthpiece from folding backwards therefore creating little, to no squeeze on the bars. The square twist is a stronger specialization than the round twist as the spines are sharper. This specialization does applies a great amount of pressure on the tongue and bars as each curve does create an individual pressure point where it lands. The Elliptical Lock Up Square Twist is available in Sweet Iron. The Sweet Iron material was chosen as a metal option as it oxidizes. Oxidization encourages salivation and acceptance of the mouthpiece. The semi-broken, Elliptical Lock Up, has limited movement.
