Elliptical Lock Up Petros

The Elliptical Lock Up removes the nut cracker action or pinch of the conventional three piece, meaning less pressure on the bars. The Elliptical Lock Up is therefore a softer option, than a conventional Elliptical, although stronger than a control plate.

The Petros mouthpieces rotate preventing the horse taking hold of the bit. Often good for a horse that leans or tries to take hold of the bit.

Recommended by Bomber for tongue sensitive horses. This would be recommended for horses lifting, poking or flicking their heads.

Functionality

The Elliptical Lock Up Petros creates a pressure point on the tongue due to the center component concentrating pressure on a small surface area. Pressure descends onto the bars and due to the mouthpiece being a semi-broken mouthpiece, it will hinder creating a squeeze on the bars – the extra piece of metal that has been added prevents the mouthpiece from folding backwards therefore creating little, to no squeeze on the bars.

The Petros prevents the horse from being able to hold onto the mouthpiece.  It is a softer option than cherry rollers as the surface area is smooth.  As the horse tries to grab the bit, the rollers will roll, preventing the horse from getting a purchase on the bit.

The Elliptical Lock Up Petros is available in Sweet Iron. The Sweet Iron material was chosen as a metal option as it oxidizes. Oxidization encourages salivation and acceptance of the mouthpiece. The semi-broken, Elliptical Lock Up Petros, has limited movement.
