Buster Roller Petros

The Buster Roller link is shortened which increases bar and tongue pressure making this mouthpiece sharper than conventional link bits. The increased pressure on the bar will lift the head and the roller will increase pressure on the tongue bringing the chin in. Best suited for a horse with a low head carriage and which leans on the bit.

The Petros mouthpieces rotate preventing the horse taking hold of the bit. Often good for a horse that leans or tries to take hold of the bit.

Bomber recommends this mouth piece as an alternative to the Barrie, it is kinder and achieves a similar result. Recommended for horses that are built downhill.

Functionality

The Buster Roller creates a direct pressure point on the tongue. The center component is a smooth roller that concentrates pressure on a small surface area. Pressure descends onto the bars and due to the mouthpiece being a double break, it will create a squeeze on the bars – this squeeze on the bars is less than the squeeze created by a single jointed mouthpiece but more than most double jointed mouthpieces.

The Petros Specialization is a softer option than Cherry Rollers as the surface area over the bars is smoother.  The rotating areas will stop the horse from being able to grab the bit.

Extra care should be taken in cleaning the Petros rollers so that oxidization does not build up.

The Buster Roller Petros is available in Sweet Iron. The Sweet Iron material was chosen as a metal option as it oxidizes. Oxidization encourages salivation and acceptance of the mouthpiece. The double break, Buster Roller Petros will take the shape of the horses mouth.
