Watch LessonBarrie Round Twist
The Barrie is a severe bit due to the centre links of the two pieces being offset by 20mm giving it a double nutcracker action, which creates more tongue and bar pressure.
The Round Twist creates more pressure points on the bars making it a stronger bit.
Good for strong older horses.
Functionality
The Barrie creates pressure points on the tongue due to the links concentrating pressure on a small surface areas. Pressure descends onto the bars and due to the mouthpiece being a single break, it will create a squeeze on the bars – this squeeze on the bars is more than the squeeze created by a double jointed mouthpiece. The Barrie creates two different tongue pressure points which are both concentrated on small surface areas. The two separate joints will also create a lot of squeeze on the bars due to their individual combined nutcracker actions. The twists in the mouthpiece will create pressure points on the tongue that descend onto the bars. The Sweet Iron material was chosen as a metal option as it oxidizes. Oxidization encourages salivation and acceptance of the mouthpiece. The single break, Barrie, is a broken mouthpiece and will take the shape of the horses mouth.
